  • Minimum 5 years full time
  • Flexible training available

Entry

  • Minimum PGY3
  • At least 26 weeks orthopaedic surgery experience within last 2 years at PGY3+
  • RACS Surgical Sciences Generic Examination
  • State licensed Radiation Safety Course

Training

  • 12-18 months Introduction to Orthopaedics
  • 36 months Core Orthopaedics Training
  • 12 months Transition to Consultant Practice

Other

  • Curriculum divided into three sections:
  1. Foundation Competencies
  2. Medical and Surgical Expertise
  3. Applied Medical and Surgical Expertise in Orthopaedics
  • Requirements for skills courses, higher education and research also apply
  • No more than 3 attempts at AOA selection are allowed
