  • 4 years full-time Advanced Training

Entry

  • hold a current medical registration
  • have completed 2 full years (or full-time equivalent) of postgraduate supervised training in general medical and surgical areas within the last 5 years
  • have been appointed to an appropriate Advanced Training position

Training

48 months certified training consisting of:

  • 36 months Core Training in accredited training settings
  • 12 months Non-core training in other disciplines or in research

Other

  • Four External Training Modules: Research, Clinical Neuropsychology, Health Services Administration and Evaluation, Behavioural Sciences
  • FIM™ (Functional Independence Measure) training course
  • Prosthetics and Orthotics courses (highly recommended)
  • Trainees are strongly encouraged to gain experience in more than one hospital unit or training setting
  • Cultural Competence and Cultural Safety Module must be completed during Basic or Advanced training for trainees entering Basic Training in 2022 or Advanced Training in 2023 onward
