Border Regional Training Hub

The Border Regional Training Hub is located on the Border regional towns of Albury and Wodonga and affiliated with the rural clinical school of UNSW. Our unique geographical position permits our Hub to work closely with both Victorian and NSW Hubs to support and promote training pathways and career opportunities across both States. The region offers career and education opportunities from beginning to advanced pathways. Our team includes clinical leads from our local health service that meet regularly to plan and support the development of our regional workforce.

Clarence Valley Regional Training Hub

Far West NSW Regional Training Hub

The Far West Regional Training Hub, hosted by the Sydney University Department of Rural Health, focuses on working collaboratively with local health service organisations including the Far West Local Health District and Royal Flying Doctor Service (South East) to enhance the coordination, continuity and capacity of rural clinical training. Our Hub provides opportunities and support to students and doctors at all stages of their career who desire to train, work and live in our region; creating a rural medical workforce that meets the health needs of the Far West.

Gippsland Regional Training Hub

Monash’s Gippsland Regional Training Hub has a footprint that covers all of Gippsland from Warragul in the West to Bairnsdale in the East and Wonthaggi in the South. Our role is to build on work across the region to support and train the next generation of rural medical practitioners. We connect with students and junior doctors interested in rural practice, offer training and development for Supervisors and assist Health Services to seek funding and accreditation for specialist training positions.

Limestone Coast Regional Training Hub

The Limestone Coast Regional Training Hub is located in Mount Gambier, South Australia, at the Flinders University Rural Health SA Mount Gambier campus.   Our key focus is to identify and improve training and career opportunities for the whole of the rural medical training pipeline, which includes medical students, pre-vocational graduates, vocational trainees, as well as rural generalists, GPs, medical specialists, and clinical supervisors in the region.  In South Australia, the Limestone Coast Regional Training Hub works closely with the Limestone Coast Local Health Network Medical Education Unit (LCLHN MEU) to create rewarding rural training experiences for all within the region.

Mid North Coast Regional Training Hub

The Mid North Coast Regional Training Hub is part of the UNSW Medicine and Health Rural Clinical Campuses. Covering rural towns across the Port Macquarie-Kempsey and Coffs Harbour regions, we have staff working from our UNSW Rural campuses in Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. We aim to identify and provide medical students and junior doctors the opportunity to obtain regional medical training. We also aim to develop a sustainable medical workforce that meets the needs of regional and rural Australia. Our team work hard to identify and provide support and mentoring to doctors in all stages of their medical training.

Murrumbidgee Regional Training Hub

The Murrumbidgee Regional Training Hub is part of the UNSW Medicine and Health Rural Clinical Campuses. Covering rural towns across the Murrumbidgee and Murray Darling regions, we have staff working from our UNSW Rural campuses in Wagga Wagga and Griffith. We have a very close relationship with Murrumbidgee LHD with a shared aim of better integration of health services across communities. Future planning for service capability and delivery involves strengthening and retaining a multi-skilled medical workforce with vocational and post-vocational support from the Hub. Smaller and less resourced sites are a major focus. More opportunities for regional-based training are being, or have been developed.

North West NSW Regional Training Hub

The North West NSW Regional Training Hub (RTH) covers the referral hospitals of Tamworth, Armidale and Taree (Manning). Alongside the Rural Clinical School programs at these sites (Peel, Tablelands and Manning), the RTH supports medical students and early career medical officers with rural career advice, and, our health partners, advocacy for increased uptake and availability of rural career opportunities. The Rural Clinical School and RTH are able to support rural aspiration and careers at our sites with Academic, Clinical, and Professional staff.

Northern NSW Regional Training Hub

The Northern NSW Regional Training Hub is a University of Sydney University Centre for Rural Health & NNSWLHD collaborative. We successfully link the medical student training delivered in the region to our LHD’s pre-vocational and vocational training pathways. Our Network has strong commitment and capacity to sustain junior doctors from internship all the way through to fellowship. We are dedicated to the training needs and requirements of all Junior Medical Officer Training and Education, with support of the prerequisites for advanced training. We aim not only to be the place to train, but the place to live and work in regional NSW.

Riverina Regional Training Hub

Our Hub exists to support medical students and junior doctors on a path that leads to Fellowship and rural careers. An enterprise of the University of Notre Dame Australia Rural Clinical School, we have close links with the local health & regional communities. We work with all to develop and customise rural medical training pathways. We collaborate with our key stakeholders to provide maximum accredited training time in a rural setting. Working with both the public and private health sectors, across the continuum of medical study and training, our footprint includes the two large rural cities Wagga Wagga and Griffith.

Shoalhaven Regional Training Hub

The Shoalhaven Regional Training Hub encompasses Nowra, Berry and Milton through its affiliation with the University of Wollongong. The region is located on the South Coast of NSW within 2.5 hours' drive of Sydney and Canberra. The Shoalhaven Hub offers postgraduate training opportunities in both hospital and community-based accredited specialty programs. The Clinical Training Team works closely with the local health district and can help you explore postgraduate training opportunities.

South East NSW Regional Training Hub

The South East (SE) NSW Regional Training Hub is part of The ANU Medical School Rural Clinical School. We find opportunities for Junior Medical Officers to continue pre-vocational and vocational training in rural locations. We assist students and junior doctors with rural career support, planning for rural Internship, Resident and Registrar training positions. The SE NSW Regional Training Hub region encompasses Cowra, Young, Crookwell, Goulburn, Yass, Queanbeyan, Cooma, Bega, Moruya and Batemans Bay. Opportunities exist throughout the region and within rural Australia for career advancement. The Hub partners with our stakeholders to ensure junior doctors thrive as rural medicine practitioners.

Western NSW Regional Training Hub

The Western NSW Regional Training Hub develops and delivers a range of initiatives aimed at increasing and enriching the medical training opportunities offered in the Western NSW Local Health District. Customised workshops, building clinical supervision capacity, scholarships, a mentoring program and individual career pathway sessions are the focus of Hub activities. We have staff located at the University of Sydney School of Rural Health sites at Dubbo and Orange which are conveniently co-located with the regional health services in those towns. The team enjoys working supporting the career needs from medical students to Fellows.

Western Victoria Regional Training Hub

The Western Victoria Regional Training Hub’s footprint spans from the Great Ocean Road to the South Australian border, and the central goldfields region of Ballarat to the north. The Hub gives medical graduates, junior doctors and established medical professionals greater opportunities to live, train and work in this region. It links Deakin University’s medical school with regionally-based trainees, health services, specialist colleges, accrediting bodies and state and territory governments, building local training capacity.
